Global findex Data: Gender

There is a significant gender gap in account ownership, savings, credit, and payments behavior. In 2014, 58 percent of women worldwide have an account, compared to 65 percent of men. In 2011, 47 percent of women and 54 percent of men had an account. This means that globally, there is a persistent 7 percentage point gender gap in account ownership.
